PAS…. The Second Observation Cycle Learning Targets: Administrators will be able to: Understand and Articulate the remaining two Observation Cycles for both Probationary and High Cycle teachers Facilitate a mid-year discussion about Student Achievement Goals Use AHEP to complete PAS requirements

Task 1 - Make sure that all teachers have SAGs entered Task 2 -Complete Observation 1 forms (Form Ds) for all Probationary and High Cycle teachers Task 3 - Perform a repeat of Observation 1 for teachers who don’t meet the Q-Comp Compensation Standard Wrapping up Tri 1 - tasks

 ALL GOALS NEED TO BE ENTERED AND ACCEPTED BY DECEMBER 12 OR THE TEACHER WILL FORFEIT THE $210 SAG INCENTIVE! (And they will still have to do the goal…employee performance issue!)  On Dec. 1 and Dec. 8, please follow up with any HC or probationary teacher who has not submitted a SAG. Document that you have given them the following reminder: “Your Student Achievement Goal was due in AHEP on November 25 th. Failure to submit a goal before December 12 th will result in forfeiting the $ SAG incentive.”  On Dec. 15 th, submit the names of any teachers who did not submit a goal in AHEP to Jan Winters. Wrapping up the Instructional Observation: Task 1 – SAG Entry (Green Handout)

 Complete any Form Ds that haven’t been completed ASAP  AHEP now has the appropriate criteria for continuing contract, P1, P2, and P3 teachers listed on Form D. Wrapping up the Instructional Observation: Task 2 – Complete Form Ds

If a teacher doesn’t meet the initial standard to advance to the second observation, you have two options:  Add evidence from the second observation below the evidence collected from the first observation. Change the “no” to “yes.”  Call Rena Hammes in Employee Services, and she will reset the data from observation one. This “wipes out” the first observation and allows the teacher and administrator to start over. Wrapping up the Instructional Observation: Task 3 – Repeat Observations if Necessary

1.Student Achievement Goals: Follow up with teachers to determine how they are monitoring student progress. (Rubric handout) 2.2 Observations for all Probationary Teachers (March 15 th deadline) and selected High Cycle teachers (April 15 th deadline). 3.Continue to collect evidence on Domain 1: Planning and Preparation and Domain 4: Professional Responsibilities Tri Responsibilities

 Teachers may have met their goal at the end of the first trimester. (Sign off, not score.)  Teachers may write a second goal if they did not meet the first.  AHEP Tasks: If teachers want to write a second goal, they will need to contact Jan Winters via with their new goal. *Exceptions may be made for teachers on Leaves of Absences. Deadline for these teachers will be 30 calendar days after the teacher returns from Leave of Absence. Student Achievement Goal

Tri 2 - Observations Selected HC Teachers

 Classroom Environment Observation Cycle  An observation focusing on Danielson’s Domain 2  Uses forms H, I, and J for Probationary and HC Classroom Teachers  Targeted Area of Growth Observation Cycle  An observation focusing on a Targeted Area of Growth  Forms E, F, and G for Probationary Classroom Teachers  Forms H, I, and J for SPED, Low-Cycle, and non-instructional staff are also focused on a Targeted Area of Growth  Peer of Choice Observation Cycle  A Targeted Area of Growth Cycle conducted by a Peer of Choice and Facilitated by a Peer Evaluator  Forms E, F, and G for High Cycle and Low Cycle Staff Observations 2 and 3 Types of Observations

HIGH CYCLE TEACHERS:  Peer of Choice Cycle by Peer Evaluator  Classroom Environment Cycle. PROBATIONARY TEACHERS:  Classroom Environment Observation Cycle  Targeted Area of Growth Observation Cycle Observations 2 and 3: in either order

Observation 2 Options for Observations 2 and 3

Just for Your Information…  Used for all Continuing Contract Teachers  Organized and facilitated by the assigned Peer Evaluator.  Will focus on a targeted area of growth as determined by the teacher, with assistance from the Peer Evaluator.  High Cycle teachers may choose to go through another observation Cycle with another Administrator in place of a Peer of Choice  The teacher shares information and reflects upon the observation using forms E and F.  On form G, the teacher reflects upon the entire PAS/Q-Comp process, including serving as a Peer of Choice Peer of Choice Observation Cycle (yellow handout)

Domain 2: The Classroom Environment 2a: Creating an Environment of Respect and Rapport 2b: Establishing a Culture for Learning 2c: Managing Classroom Procedures 2d: Managing Student Behavior 2e: Organizing Physical Space Observation 2 Classroom Environment Cycle FORMS H-I-J

PRE CONFERENCE: FORM H Student Achievement Goal Discussion: Monitoring Student Progress / Formative Assessments Pre Conference: What evidence will I see of proficiency in Domain 2, Classroom Environment? What evidence can the teacher provide that may not be observable? How can I collect evidence for Domain 1, Planning and Preparation? Observation 2 Classroom Environment Cycle (blue handout Forms H – I – J)

THE OBSERVATION:  Collect Data during your observation on Domain 2, The Classroom Environment.  Collect Data, if desired, for other Domains to help you complete the summative.  Prepare Data for the Post Conference Observation 2 Classroom Environment Cycle FORMS H – I - J

In AHEP: Schedule Pre/Post Meetings and the observation. Enter observation date in AHEP. Review Form H and sign off prior to the pre conference. Review Form I and sign off prior to the post conference. Complete Form J after the post conference and submit to the teacher. Observation 2 Classroom Environment Cycle FORMS H-I-J

 This observation replaces the Peer of Choice option for probationary and selected High Cycle teachers.  It may be done before or after the Classroom Environment Observation Cycle.  It is an opportunity to work with the teacher on a special area of focus, determined either by the teacher, or directed by the administrator. (Example: ENVoY, questioning strategies, etc.)  Data may be collected to help you complete the summative in other domains. (See handouts) Observation 2 Targeted Area of Growth Cycle (pink handouts Forms E – F - G)

In AHEP:  Review and Sign off Form E: Pre-observation Planning Sheet. The pre-conference is important because you will help the teacher select an area of growth and agree upon specific data that may be collected.  Collect data during the observation.  Review and Sign off Form F: Post-observation Reflection Sheet.  Conduct Post-observation and complete Form G: Observation Report. Submit Form to teacher to sign off. Observation 2 Targeted Area of Growth Cycle FORMS E – F - G

Probationary SPED Teachers:  Building Administrator completes observation cycle one focusing on the Instructional Domain Three.  SPED Program Supervisor completes a Targeted Area of Growth observation cycle using the Data-driven File Review Process.  Building Administrator completes observation cycle two focusing on the Classroom Environment Domain.  Building Administrator completes the final Summative Evaluation using data from the 3 observation cycles. What about Probationary Special Education Licensed Staff?

High Cycle SPED Staff:  Building Administrator completes observation cycle one focusing on the Instructional Domain.  HC Special Education Teachers complete a Peer of Choice observation facilitated by a Peer Evaluator for cycle two.  SPED Program Supervisor completes a Targeted Area of Growth observation cycle using the Data-driven File Review Process.  Building Administrator completes the final Summative Evaluation using data from the 3 observation cycles. HC SPED Licensed Staff?

Frequently Asked Questions about the Remaining Observation Cycles…

What has changed in AHEP?

 The administrator has the right to designate another administrator or an administrative intern under his/her supervision to complete the second observation IN PLACE of the Peer of Choice.  The administrator will conduct a Targeted Area of Growth Observation Cycle in place of the Peer of Choice.  The teacher can still complete a Peer of Choice observation if desired. This will be considered an optional 4 th observation. What do the remaining observation cycles look like if I determine a HC teacher needs an administrative observation in place of the Peer of Choice?

What about Administrative Interns?

 This year is a work in progress for non-classroom teachers.  Complete all observation forms in AHEP.  If specialized rubrics aren’t available (example: TOSAs), on Form K – then use instructional rubrics and interpret based on the role of the individual.  At the end of the year, we will make a decision from three possible options:  Use instructional rubrics and apply to the position.  Create position specific rubrics for the school year.  Use old PAS rubrics. What needs to be entered into AHEP for non-classroom/traditional teachers?

 Under.4 FTE: Don’t qualify for Q Comp, but they still have to be observed…  Complete the entire observation process (3 observations cycles) for all full-year teachers.  Teachers hired after the start of the school year: One observation cycle per trimester. What about newly hired teachers and those under.4 FTE?

 What does the third observation cycle look like?  How do we score the Student Achievement Goals?  Completing the Summative Evaluation (Form K)  What do I need to do to ensure that probationary and high cycle teachers receive their Q Comp incentive pay? Looking Forward to the 3 rd Observation Cycle…
