Key Challenges According to the Veterans Administration and the Department of Defense space in their current career transition programs is limited and funding will continue to become more limited with the sequester. These organizations are now more actively looking for local solutions and partnership to help our veterans’ transition from their military career path/roles to a civilian career path. The unemployment rate among younger veterans continues to outpace the share of out-of-work civilians. Nearly 1 in every 10 exiting service members from both the Iraq and Afghanistan wars expend several hours hunting for jobs according to figures released in March 2013 by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Key Challenges The consequences of these long transition periods cause veterans to face long absences or work life interruptions, and also further distances their connection to a network of contacts and mentors that their civilian counterparts can more easily develop. The traditional veterans’ clubs, such as the American Legion, and others are facing an aging membership and in increasingly irrelevant business model. EC Hub is a resource that the veteran population is missing that would help mentor them through their transition from their military employment role to civilian employment. American Legion
