OPENING PRAYER (Unison) Lay Reader ~ Carol Brown God of Healing and Transformation, we hunger and thirst for your abundant life. We bring you our sorrow and ask for the bread of joy; we bring you our despair and ask for the bread of hope; we bring you our weariness and ask for the bread of inspiration. Meet us here.

Take Time to Be Holy Take time to be holy, speak oft with thy Lord; abide in him always, and feed on his word. Take Time to Be Holy (1) WORDS: William D. Longstaff, ca (1 Pet. 1:16), CCLI Make friends of God’s children, help those who are weak, forgetting in nothing his blessing to seek.

2. Take time to be holy, the world rushes on; spend much time in secret with Jesus alone. Take Time to Be Holy (2) By looking to Jesus, like him thou shalt be; thy friends in thy conduct his likeness shall see.

3. Take time to be holy, let him be thy guide, and run not before him, whatever betide. Take Time to Be Holy (3) In joy or in sorrow, still follow the Lord, and, looking to Jesus, still trust in his word.

4. Take time to be holy, be calm in thy soul, each thought and each motive beneath his control. Take Time to Be Holy (4) Thus led by his spirit to fountains of love, thou soon shall be fitted for service above.

SCRIPTURE ~ Exodus 16:2-4 and 9-15 Lay Reader – Carol Brown 2 The whole Israelite community complained against Moses and Aaron in the desert. 3 The Israelites said to them, “Oh, how we wish that the L ORD had just put us to death while we were still in the land of Egypt. There we could sit by the pots cooking meat and eat our fill of bread.

Instead, you’ve brought us out into this desert to starve this whole assembly to death.” 4 Then the L ORD said to Moses, “I’m going to make bread rain down from the sky for you. The people will go out each day and gather just enough for that day. In this way, I’ll test them to see whether or not they follow my Instruction.

The people will go out each day and gather just enough for that day. In this way, I’ll test them to see whether or not they follow my Instruction. 9 Then Moses said to Aaron, “Say to the whole Israelite community, ‘Come near to the L ORD, because he’s heard your complaints.’” 10 As Aaron spoke to the

whole Israelite community, they turned to look toward the desert, and just then the glorious presence of the L ORD appeared in the cloud. 11 The L ORD spoke to Moses, 12 “I’ve heard the complaints of the Israelites. Tell them, ‘At twilight you will eat meat. And in the morning you will have your fill of bread. Then you will know that I am the L ORD your God.’”

13 In the evening a flock of quail flew down and covered the camp. And in the morning there was a layer of dew all around the camp. 14 When the layer of dew lifted, there on the desert surface were thin flakes, as thin as frost on the ground.

15 When the Israelites saw it, they said to each other, “What is it?” They didn’t know what it was. Moses said to them, “This is the bread that the L ORD has given you to eat.

-Pastor Greg Rowe “ You’re Not Yourself When You’re Hungry!”
