Telematics Caucasus

Organizers: 4 Georgian Federation for Information and Documentation (GFID) 4 the Georgian Research Institute for Scientific and Technical Information (Techinformi) 4 with the support of the European Commissi- on/Directorate General Information Society.

The conference goals were to:  estimate the current state of telework in the Region  discuss practical ways of development of new methods of work  identify major technological, social and legal issues of e-commerce  Stimulate the use of e-business.

Participants: 4 33 foreign (from Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Germany, Poland, Romania, Russia, Switzerland, Ukraine, and Vietnam) 4 and over 120 Georgian participants took part in the conference 4 The INTERNET location of the conference site is

“Economy and Journalism” 4 regional project sponsored by Eurasia Foundation due to financial resources provided by USAID

Project is directed: 4 to teaching students of different colleges and universities journalistic methodologies and techniques 4 to development of qualification of journalists who cover economic issues concerning Armenia, Georgia and Azerbajan.

The main partisipants of the project are : 4 NGO «TEAM Research Center» of Armenia, 4 Association of Women-Journalists of Azerbaijan 4 Union of Independent Journalists of Georgia.

“Economy of the South Caucasus”. In the beginning of 2002 the project participants started to issue in INTERNET of joint electronic weekly newsletter “Economy of the South Caucasus”.

4 newsletter “Economy of the South Caucasus” is devoted to enlightenment of main economic and financial processes of each of the three states, and to the perspectives of economic cooperation in the Caucasus region as a whole.

4 INTERNET publishing of the newsletter was implemented on the basis of the IDC- Tbilisi. 4 The INTERNET location of the project site is

For the listeners, within the frames of the project, on the basis of the IDC-Tbilisi. video-conferences were organized as well, where some prospects of economic cooperation of South Caucasus States were discussed.

The computerized telediagnostic system was implemented in the department of andrology and sexology of Central Railway Clinic Hospital in Tbilisi

The hardware of the system consists of: 4 a luminiscense and phase-contrast microscope, 4 digital video camera, 4 computer, 4 TV screen, 4 modem for INTERNET connection

There is a possibility of transmission via INTERNET the information : 4 on bacterial and virus microflora 4 cell citology 4 video pictures of moving objects 4 freeze frames,

On the basis of teldiagnostic system were realized: 4 holding the tele-consultations of specialist doctors. 4 Watching by patients the results of diagnostics and treatment
