Selecting a University Important Factors Academic Program Selectivity Size Location Climate Budget

Scholarship Vs Financial Aid A scholarship is a financial award based on merit, special talent and/or leadership qualities. Financial aid is based on financial need that must be documented.

U.S Universities National Universities Public Universities Private Universities Community Colleges

National Universities There are 262 national universities public, 98 private. National universities offer a full range of undergraduate majors as well as master's and doctoral degrees. They place strong emphasis on research and receive federal money to support their research endeavors.

Public Universities Public universities are state universities founded and operated by State government entities. State Universities generally charge higher tuition to out-of - state students. Every U.S. state has at least one public university to its name

Liberal Arts There are 266 liberal arts colleges, 28 of them public. These schools emphasize undergraduate education. These colleges award at least 50 percent of their degrees in liberal arts disciplines, such as languages and literature, biology and life sciences, philosophy, cultural studies, and psychology.

Community Colleges In the United States, community colleges, sometimes called junior colleges, technical colleges or city colleges are primarily two- year public institutions providing higher education and lower - level tertiary education, granting certificates, diplomas and associate's degrees.

Tips to budget your college costs Look for the “best buys”, i.e univ’s that offers a quality education at a reasonable costs. Consider Public Universities. Earn Transfer Credit. A.P exams etc. Study in the Midwest &/or in a rural part where living costs are significantly lower.
