Standing strong after 16 months… American Chemical Society 6 Patient: “LOVE LOVE LOVE the new lobby for the kids. It really did need a redo, and the new science theme is great!!!!!!!!” Lori Mills, Manager of Practice Operations at St. Vincent Medical Group: “Thank you ACS! Parents and kids have raved about the “new look” in our lobby. The interactive items are a big hit with all ages and I see adults “reading the walls”…that’s what we hoped would happen. American Chemical Society 10 Local Chemical Businesses “Showcase” The Event : oHeld in conjunction with the Georgia section’s 3 rd bi-annual Academia-Industry Forum titled “Creation of the Chemical Entrepreneur” at Kennesaw State University (KSU) o80+ attendees (vs. target of 50) total o18 companies with exhibit tables for the business “showcase” oBreakfast and lunch were provided oNetworking opportunities with academia-industry forum attendees oTotal cost was ~ $ 1, (defrayed by IPG & KSU venue for free) oVery positive member response via survey with strong alignment between member expectations and the event

American Chemical Society New York Section ChemLuminary Award HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAMS 1.Program SEED: >60 students conducted summer research at neighboring colleges & universities; 26 out of total of 54 students presented at 2012-National ACS Meeting; 5 ACS scholars; 5 Chemistry Ambassadors; One Bill Gates scholar 2.Chemagination: 27 posters on 4 categories were presented at St. John’s University; First place winners were sent to MARM Chemistry Olympiad: 338 students with 20 qualifying to the National Exam Adelphi University (5 Honors; 2 High Honors)
American Chemical Society 4. Brooklyn H.S. Brooklyn Chemistry Day: Annual Brooklyn H.S. Chemistry Day (123 students) involved chemistry magic demonstrations & research lab tours in neighboring colleges and universities th Annual H.S.Research Poster Session: Annual poster competition was St. Joseph’s College (70 posters, 77 students) with college alumni attending and serving as judges who gave certificates. 6. Achievement Awards to Long Island and Brooklyn H.S. Students: 55 awardees were given wooden plaque certificates at two different dinner events with a keynote speaker talk and parents present.
