How it started? Goal: An original IPG idea Chemistry in our daily lives Related to kids Keep sick kids connected to school An outcome that would last many years to come Planning Reached out to St. Vincent Health Network Secured the grant Formed a core team Recruit sponsors Recruit Volunteers Planned an opening event Lasting impression American Chemical Society 3 THANK YOU VOLUNTEERS!!!

American Chemical Society 4

The impact Accomplished well 31 volunteered-many more were on the list Formed great partnership Continuing community impact Total Cost: $13,698 – Covered by sponsors and IPG Great Media impact Lessons learned Getting media involved is very tricky, plans change min by min Having a great partner is key The opening event with kids was a fun additional event IPads were hard to manage for the clinic Don’t hesitate to ask! American Chemical Society 5

Standing strong after 16 months… American Chemical Society 6 Patient: “LOVE LOVE LOVE the new lobby for the kids. It really did need a redo, and the new science theme is great!!!!!!!!” Lori Mills, Manager of Practice Operations at St. Vincent Medical Group: “Thank you ACS! Parents and kids have raved about the “new look” in our lobby. The interactive items are a big hit with all ages and I see adults “reading the walls”…that’s what we hoped would happen. We thank you and your team for doing such an amazing job of enlightening our “big and little” Michigan Road visitors about how fun science can be!”
