EYES: THE WINDOWS OF THE SOUL GALLERY WALK

CHARACTERIZATION The methods a writer uses to make their characters seem real. Method = a way of doing something

“IT’S ALL IN THE EYES.” Do you think we can predict a lot about a character’s personality based on how their eyes are described?

GALLERY WALK TIME! Each station will have a written description of a character’s eyes. Draw a quick, rough sketch of what you think their eyes look like. (Now is not the time to be Picasso, but feel free to add more details at home!) Choose words and phrases from the description and write them in the box Work as a group to predict that character’s description.

YOUR EYES... Draw your own eyes. What do you think your eyes say about your personality?

SHOW ME WHAT YOU KNOW In an accordion paragraph, identify a theme in The Outsiders. Use textual evidence to support your analysis (explanation of its meaning). Explain why the theme is universal.

As a table group you are going to fill in the following information for that character. Gang How are they related to other characters? Identifier – style, object, attitude (something important to/about them)

BOB Soc Cherry’s “boyfriend” Wears a lot of rings, beat up Johnny, threatened Ponyboy
