Hospital Policies/Procedures Become familiar with your hospital policies and procedures Access requests Both activating new users and deactivating old accounts Passwords Change control – very important to understand this for making configuration changes to your system At my facility, I have to submit a form with my changes summarized and I include a copy of the screen shot, configuration report, and printed version (as applicable) Then I have to attend our EDC (Electronic Documentation Committee) meeting to present my changes

System Manager Home Page Create a home page that works for you If there are things you need to check each day or information you look for frequently, create a home page with that information so it’s right there!!
Create a list of things you need to check on a daily basis and make a spreadsheet/checklist for easy reference each day
Have drop downs that you add new nurses/providers/ others to Have drop downs that you add new nurses/providers/ others to? Keep a list of all the items you need to add to each type of user.
Be creative!! Any process you don’t do very often that has a lot of steps, map it out so it’s easier each time you do it!!
