What are we going to learn? We are learning how to select the correct answer for research questions on the TCAP test.

Why is this important to learn? Knowing how to answer questions correctly will help you to score advance/proficient on the TCAP. This will make you feel good about yourself.

F. How to Care for Sea Animals ▫You are not writing a report about how to take care of a sea animal.

G. Strange Sea Animals ▫You are writing a report with facts about a different kind of animal.

H. Animals of South America ▫You are not writing a report about the animals that live in South America—this is a big subject.

J. Sea Tales for One and All ▫You are not writing a made up report. You need facts!!!

Write it!!! A non-fiction book close to your subject will give you the most information.

A. To add more facts to his report To add more facts you would need to use an encyclopedia, non-fiction book or website.

B. To discover sea squirts on a map To find something on a map you would use an atlas.

C. To find words with similar meanings A thesaurus is a book of synonyms.

D. To look at pictures of sea squirts To see pictures of something you can look at pages in a book or on website.

Write it!! Website addresses ending in.org and.edu usually have the most reliable information.

Write it!! A print or online encyclopedia is a good place to start a report.

B. A newspaper article about a local workshop for arts and crafts A newspaper article about a workshop will give you information on that workshop.

C. A magazine article titled “Arts and Crafts: Home Decorating” A magazine article about arts and crafts home decorating, will tell you how to decorate your home.

D. A website for ordering supplies for arts and crafts A website for ordering supplies will tell you about an item but not how to use it.

Write it!! Read all the answers carefully and eliminate those that are not correct.
