War is hell

Life is not all roses and potatoes

Key verse “Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No soldier gets entangled in civilian pursuits, since his aim is to please the one who enlisted him.” 2 Tim 2:3-4

Suffering a result of:  You haven’t asked  You sinned or broke the law  You are under attack from the enemy Health & wealth gospel

Suffering a result of:  You haven’t asked You do not have because you do not ask James 4:2 Health & wealth gospel

Suffering a result of:  You sinned or broke the law "But if you will not obey the voice of the Lord your God or be careful to do all his commandments and his statutes that I command you today, then all these curses shall come upon you and overtake you." Deut 28:15 Health & wealth gospel

Suffering a result of:  You are under attack from the enemy Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 1Peter 5:8 Health & wealth gospel

I.Two types of suffering  Kakopatheo: to endure hardships 2 Tim 2:3  Patho: to experience a sensation or impression, usually painful Philip 1:29

II.It is not a matter of IF but When If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. John 15:18 You will be hated by all for my name's sake. Luke 21:17

 The apostles 2 Tim 2:9  Benji and Abby  June Harrison II.It is not a matter of IF but When

"There is no circumstance, no trouble, no testing, that can ever touch me until, first of all, it has gone past God, past Christ, right through to me. If it has come that far, it has come with a great purpose, which I may not understand at that moment. But I refuse to become panicky as I life up my eyes to Him and accept it as coming from the throne of God for some great purpose. of blessing to my own heart." Alan Redpath

III.How we are supposed to handle suffering? Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. James 1:2-4

III.How we are supposed to handle suffering? More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. Romans 5:3

III.How we are supposed to handle suffering?  Suffer for righteousness not evil

IV.the result of suffering  Strengthen your faith  Deepen your relationship with the Lord  Give you a better understanding of His will and how to glorify him

conclusion  Remember that the suffering of this life is nothing compared with the glory to come (Romans 8:18)  Remember that God works all things for the good of those who love him (Rom 8:28)  Have an attitude of rejoicing much like that of Habakkuk:

Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation.

conclusion  Remember that the suffering of this life is nothing compared with the glory to come. (Romans 8:18)  Remember that God works all things for the good of those who love Him. (Rom 8:28)  Have an attitude of rejoicing much like that of Habakuk.  Remember that God is good.
