Private Line/Leased Line over Packet Building 1 Building 2 Leased Line IPmux-216 Ethernet/MPLS/IP TDM Pseudowire GbETH GbETH PBX PBX LAN LAN Beneficial to: Businesses: Small, medium and enterprises Alternative carriers looking to increase service offering Incumbents in migration or outside their network reach Benefits Customer does not need to replace HW Reduced leased line costs by using a single line for voice and data Reduced OpEx by using Ethernet vs. TDM network

TDM Backhaul/Trunking over Packets Gmux-2000 Gmux-2000 GbE SDH GbE Ethernet/MPLS/IP E1/T1 STM-1/OC-3 E1/T1 STM-1/OC-3 PABX PBX Class 5 Switch Beneficial to: Alternative Carriers save on leased capacity from incumbent Large enterprises looking to save on leased line costs Benefits Small foot print with high capacity: 196xE1/T1 for a 6U chassis Grooming of E1/T1 into lower cost STM-1/OC-3 ports Under $500 per E1/T1 link – best price/performance

Cellular Backhaul over Packet 3G RNC Node B IPmux E1/T1 FE C.STM-1 Gmux-2000 Clock GbE BTS Ethernet/MPLS/IP 2G BSC 196 E1/T1 C.T3, C.STM-1 E1/T1 Beneficial to: Cellular service providers who own their network Telecoms, incumbent and alternative, selling services to cellular service providers Benefits Provides reliable replacement for cellular backhaul with jitter and wander conforming to G.823 syn and 16ppb clock accuracy CapEx savings Eliminates the need for accurate clock source at every base station

PSTN Access over packet IPmux-216 E1/T1 Gmux-2000 Fiber Ethernet Cable HFC Infrastructure GbE Ethernet / IP / MPLS nxT1/E1 Or C.OC-3 /C.STM-1 FT1/T1/n*T1 FE1/E1/n*E1 CMTS Cable modem IPmux-24 PSTN Fixed Wireless FT1/T1/n*T1 FE1/E1/n*E1 Beneficial to: Alternative Carriers Incumbents in migration or out of their network reach Benefits Unified TDM over packet solution regardless of access technology Enables Ethernet and TDM service on the same infrastructure. Alternative carriers can increase revenue by selling lucrative TDM services DSL modem IPmux-1E IPmux-24

IPmux-216 Features

Legacy and Ethernet services TDM Service Up to 16 framed or Unframed E1/T1 with CAS*/CCS signaling and DS0 level bundles Fully transparent emulation of TDM circuit Conforms to G.823/4 jitter and wander requirements HDLC Service nx64Kbps bandwidth assignment Port support for HDLC-based data: Frame Relay, X.25, PPP Bandwidth is optimized by suppressing idle flags Ethernet Service Up to 3 GE or FE service ports Ingress and Egress rate limiting per user port and net port VLAN stacking (q-in-q) *CAS supported in TDMoIP mode only

Pseudowire technology Complies with the leading Pseudowire standards TDMoIP and CESoPSN – for structured TDM service SAToP/RFC4553 – for unstructured TDM service HDLCoPSN – for HDLC based services Supports packet networks as transport Ethernet – Each Pseudowire is assigned a specific VLAN ID MPLS – Each Pseudowire is statically assigned an MPLS label IP – Each Pseudowire is assigned a destination IP address Performance and flexibility Minimum of intrinsic delay with ASIC based architecture Up to 256 concurrent Pseudowires with TDM DS0 level grooming Each Pseudowire can be assigned any number of time slots (bundles) Pseudowires are individually configured for TDMoIP, CESoPSN, SAToP or HDLCoPSN

Clock Recovery and Timing TDM ports can be configured for timing as any standard TDM device LBT – Loopback Timing Internal – Using the IPmux internal oscillator External – Using a dedicated clock port with external clock source System clock with failover support from one source to another Compensates for packet delay variation (PDV) with configurable jitter buffer from 0.5 to 180 msec Overcomes lost or mis-ordered packets up to 5% of traffic Adaptive Clock Recovery The remote IPmux-216 can recover the original transmitting clock over the packet network with great accuracy Independent clock recovery mechanism per TDM port 16 ppb frequency accuracy with 1ppb/day holdover for cellular backhaul G.823 synchronization mask for high quality E1 circuit G.8261 synchronization over packet networks conformant

Fault Management & Troubleshooting Alarm Propagation The IPmux propagates TDM Alarms across the PSN: LOS, RDI and AIS (Trail Extension mode) Diagnostic Loopbacks IPmux gateway can be remotely set to loopback traffic towards PSN or towards TDM device T1 facility loopback activate by code

Performance Monitoring & Statistics TDM Statistics are collected in 15 minute intervals that are written to memory holding 96 intervals covering 24 hours Per Pseudowire statistics Connectivity Status Sequence Errors Jitter overflow and underflow and maximum deviation Per TDM physical port statistics comply with G.826 and RFC 2495 Ethernet Statistics per physical port RFC 2819 e.g. Rx Frames, Tx Frames, dropped frames etc.

Limitations IPmux-216 Gigabit Ethernet ports are available as SFP ports only. Gigabit Ethernet copper is supported using RAD’s SFP-9G (1000 only, 100/1000 will be supported in future version). 1st and 2nd Ethernet ports rate (FE or GbE) must be the same. Downloading SW can be done using TFTP from the main menu only (not from the boot menu) HDLCoPSN is supported with no performance monitoring (PM).
