What is the HEART? Pear shaped structure About the size of a fist. The heart is a MUSCULAR ORGAN Found in all ANIMALS and HUMANS Pumps BLOOD throughout the BLOOD VESSELS

What is its Function? Supplies the body with oxygenated blood. Each time the heart beats, – it exerts a pressure on the veins and arteries called BLOOD PRESSURE. Has repeated, Rhythmic contractions IT KEEPS US ALIVE!

Hearts Location? The heart lies in the chest cavity between the lungs. Heart

Pulse What is PULSE? – The rate of which the heart beats. Where can we find our PULSE? – Wrist – Neck – Ankle – Head Can You Find your PULSE?

What else Relates to the HEART??? ??

Do you know what the HEART sounds like? Can you make the sound? Is it fast or slow? Loud or soft? – Here Is an Example:

How to find your Pulse.. Step 1: Hold ONE hand straight out, elbow bent, palm facing up. Place the tips of your INDEX and MIDDLE FINGERS of the other hand under the pocket under your thumb.

Second Step Step 2: Get out your stopwatch. First, take a count of how many pulse beats you feel for 30 seconds.

Third Step Step 3: Multiply the amount of beats by two to calculate your pulse rate per minute. 2

Review Time Where is the HEART LOCATED? What is the HEART? What's the HEARTS FUNCTION? Who has a HEART? What is a PULSE? How do we FIND OUR PULSE?
