Making international calls from Thailand is not complicated, although it can be very expensive. There are a number of ways to make an international call. Many of the larger hotels offer this service very conveniently. There are a number of companies that specialize in communication services, offering internet, international calls at more economical rates, and even the use of fax machines.

Another means of calling internationally in Thailand are the use of calling cards that may be purchased at any local convenience store. If using operator-assisted calls, dial 100. When dialing directly, press 001 or country code + area code + the telephone number.

Please remember, calling within Thailand is more expensive than in most other countries. A call to a neighbor or a mobile phone will cost much more than is expected. Purchasing a mobile phone is a great way to save money if a long stay is planned in Thailand and many local calls will be made. These phones are not expensive on tourists' budgets, do not involve contracts, and are easily sold when it is time to leave Thailand.
