The Current System  The project team reviewed the current information systems at VCR.  The VCR maintained and processed four general types of information: 1.payroll, 2.expenses, 3.donors, and 4.volunteer information.

The Current System  Terminology was initially unfamiliar  Station is a place where volunteers work by devoting their time and effort.  A job refers to a specific activity that a volunteer performs at a specific station.  Placement is the process of matching volunteers, depending on their skills and interests, with specific jobs at stations..

Two current system  Currently, VCR uses an electronic system for maintaining senior volunteers, 55 and Older.  Their activities under the retired and senior Volunteer Program.

Two current system  Activities of all other volunteers (younger than 55 years) are maintained using paper processes.

Documented Current business processes  Jeff and his team documented the current business processes using UML documentation such as the use- case diagram.  Jeff McCoy, leader of the project team, created use-case diagram to illustrate the different activities performed by the current electronic system.

The current manual/paper processes  This includes all processes not integrated with the current electronic system.  Some of the processes indicated in this use-case diagram do not necessarily involve “paper.”  However, they use manual processes such as using the typewriter or maintaining documents and spreadsheets that are not integrated with the electronic system.
