Common inhalants: gasoline, nail polish remover, aerosols, propellants, nitrous oxide Short term effects: immediate death, nausea, heart attack, suffocation, vomiting, light headedness, hallucinations Long term effects: brain damage, damage to kidney and liver, Prescription drug abuse occurs when a person uses medication for nonmedical reasons. Because medicine comes from doctors, people believe it is safe Commonly abused prescriptions: pain killers, sedatives, tranquilizers, stimulants Effects: effects of prescription drug abuse vary widely depending on the type of drug.
