WHY IRCHSS? Our research council dedicated to our research areas (to a degree) Its schemes are dedicated to funding academic research – Designed for PhD – Designed for Post-Doc It is (up to now) reliable and regular – once a year + special calls

IRCHSS statements The sole Irish funding organisation for humanities and social sciences researchers in disciplines as diverse as language, law, literature, history, business and economics IRCHSS was formally established in 1999 following a HEA report which identified the need for an independent and autonomous Research Council for the social sciences and the humanities. The Humanities and Social Sciences: The Case for a Research Council, HEA, 1998.

Stats Since 1999…. IRCHSS has supported over 1,473 individual PhD Scholars enhanced the careers of 335 Postdoctoral Fellows and has facilitated access for Irish researchers to international networks and European opportunities through its project funding schemes.
