LARISSA - THE CITY  Built successively on the very same place since antiquity,  Has always held a strategic role due to its geographic location in the middle of Thessaly, in the centre of Greece.  Its role in the Greek economy has always been decisive.  Is a city blessed with wealth from the fertile land, with Peneios waters that give life to this land, and with its hard working people striving for their city.

LARISSA - THE CITY  Larissa is the capital of the Prefecture and the Region of Thessaly, situated at about 350 km north of Athens and 154km south of Thessalonica.  Built in the centre of the Thessalian plain, on the banks of Peneios River, at just 70 m of altitude, it is the fourth largest city in Greece with a population of more than 200,000 people.  It is one of the largest urban-commercial centres with a thriving political, economic and social life.

LARISSA - THE CITY  The city hosts the Technological Educational Institution, the Medical school and the department of Biochemistry & Biotechnology of the University of Thessaly, the Regional University Hospital, and the Averof Agricultural School.  It is the centre of most civil and military services in the area and has adjusted successfully to all the rapid changes and the financial, social and political challenges that Greece faces within the European Union.
