Region 6 Pilot U.S.-Mexico Border Environmental Information and Education Initiative in support of 2012 Border Program

PROGRAM OUTREACH The program will establish an information and training hub at AYUDA that will be managing two remote sites. One located in Agua Dulces and the other in Juarez. These sites in turn will reach out to other community centers, schools, and churches

DATA COLLECTION, TRAINING AND SUPPORT Training and support will be provided by EASI and USMCOC in the establishment of environmental data collection programs

Environmental Data Reporting and Feedback When the satellite and outreach organizations begin to report their collected information back to the Hub at AYUDA. The data will be entered into an online environmental database that meets the EPA standards for data reporting

The Region 6 Pilot U.S.-Mexico Border Environmental Information and Education Initiative in support of 2012 Border Program to disseminate environmental information and provide training through volunteers is possibly one of the first cross-border community-level programs that will provide a usable product which demonstrably supports the new 2012 BORDER PROGRAM The data product being taken from the on-line information reporting system at the community-level will be in a format that is usable in the EPA national database. These community-level hubs and satellites may become vital additional EPA regional resources in the future for the purpose of filling data gaps and early identification of environmental indicators along the both sides of the border EASI AND USMCOC PROGRAM GOALS
