Anatomy & Physiology for Healthcare Professions MVROP Dr. Dhana Uppula

2 Program Details  College preparatory course offered to sophomores, juniors and seniors interested in health professions  Two-semester course – a two-hour AM class for 360 hours at the ROP center, or a one-hour class for 180 hours at the high school campus (Irvington HS-SHAPE program)  The pre-requisites for this course are one year of biology and an interest in the healthcare industry  The class provides:  1) a strong foundation in anatomy and physiology that is required for any health care profession  2) fulfills their UC “g” elective requirement

3 Objectives Study body systems in detail from the health care point of view as well as basic medical terminology Enable students to handle college level courses with reasonable comfort Lecture and lab activities will prepare students to be assessed by demonstrating the skills gained Understand the significance of skills learned in the real world through job shadowing, guest speakers, and field trips.

4 Career Pathways Entry level ( $12-24 per hour) MA, CNA, Massage therapist, LVN, dental assistant Technical Level ( $16-28 per hour) EKG Technician, Pharmacy tech, Medical Lab tech Professional Level ( $30-80 per hour) Physician, Pharmacist, Dentist, Optometrist, Psychologist, Physiotherapist, Nurse Practitioner, Registered Nurse, Biotechnologist, Forensic Specialist, Medical Director, Nutritionist and Rehab Specialists
