WYIS Science and Engineering Fair Preparing the Research Plan

The research plan should include all of the following: Testable question Note for engineering projects: State the problem being addressed. Hypothesis Try to use format: “If … then … because …” Note for engineering projects: State the project goals (what you are trying to accomplish).

Description of Method Identify all variables: Independent Dependent Controlled Detailed List of Materials Procedures Data Analysis: EXPLAIN how you will use graphs, calculations, tables, etc., to evaluate your hypothesis (ie. what patterns will you be looking for?) Note for engineering projects: include materials, procedures, several preliminary designs, and plans for data analysis (how will you test and evaluate your prototype?)

Works Cited Include at least 5 references in MLA format Tip: Start with the works cited from your background research paper and add any new sources you will use

Additional content in your research plan (and additional forms to fill out) will be required for high school projects involving: People Animals Biological agents (ie. cells, bacteria, etc.) Chemicals See me for these details!
