Epic Greek Heroes By: Chris Robertson
Odysseus Odysseus was a hero from the epic book series The Odyssey. He spent ten years away from home fighting the Trojan War and an additional ten years on the sea. He fought giant Cyclops's, Whirlpools, beautiful tunes, Calypso's love, and when he finally got home he had to fight 118 suitors that had been ransacking his house for 20 years
Jason As a boy he had to be sent to a cave so he would not be killed by King Peilas who had taken the throne from his family. When he got old enough he set out to reclaim the throne. He had to acquire a golden fleece guarded by a dragon. His crew drove away harpies on an island, then they reached the island with the golden fleece.
Jason… The king of the island made Jason capture two fire breathing bulls, harvest an entire field, and surprise to Jason kill the plants. Jason got reluctant permission from the king to get the Fleece. He gained the Fleece and the kings daughter who helped Jason on his quest. Jason was given the throne and a new princess
Hercules The strongest man to ever live He wrestled a snack when he was a baby Was sent into insanity by Hera because Zeus had Hercules with a mortal Hercules killed his three sons and sets out to cleanse himself. He had to accomplish 12 challenges to clean himself
Hercules… killing the lion of Nemea, killing a creature with nine heads called the Hydra, capturing a stag with horns of gold, killing a boar, cleaning a thousand Aegean stables in one day, exiling the Stymphalian birds, going to Crete and bringing back the beautiful savage bull that Poseidon gave Minos, retrieving the man-eating mares, bringing back the girdle of Hippolyta, returning the back of the cattle of Geryon, bringing back the Golden Apples of Hesperides, and finally bringing Cerberus, the three-headed dog, up from Hades.
Theseus Theseus lives with his mother away from his father who was the king of Athens. Theseus gets to his father and his father sends him to kill the Minotaur In its labyrinth. He leads yarn into the maze so he can find his way out. He finds the Minotaur and kills it bare handed. On the way home Theseus doesn’t fly the white sail and his father- Aegeus -jumps into the sea (I guess killing himself)
Theseus… Theseus becomes the king and rules very friendly. Theseus marries Phaedra who is the sister of Ariadne and she was the girl he was suppose to marry. Theseus had a son already and his name was Hippolytus, Phaedra falls in love with him and writes a note saying he violated her and then she kills herself. Theseus banishes his son and when he finds out it was a lie Hippolytus is already dead
Bellerophon Tames a Pegasus and it becomes his loyal pet. Kills his brother and visits a king to cleanse himself Queen likes him but Bellerophon turns her down, she tells her husband to kill him but he doesn’t want to offend Zeus because he was a guest so he sends him off to another king with a letter The letter tells the king to kill him but instead he sends him on so many impossible quests that he completes.
Bellerophon… Bellerophon gains the respect of this king and gains the princess hand in marriage. Bellerophon tries to become more than human when he goes to Mount Olympus. The Gods stop liking him so they kill him and Zeus takes his Pegasus.
Perseus Baby Perseus and his mother, Danea, are found by a fisherman because they were sent to the sea by Perseus grandpa because he was afraid Perseus would kill him. They live there for a while until an new king takes over and wants Danea all to himself so he sends Perseus on a quest to kill Medusa. He first gets advise and a sword from Hermes, a shield from Athena, and is told to meet three sisters
Perseus… Perseus finds the three sisters that share an eye and obtains a wallet that changes size, winged sandals, and a magic cap that turns you invisible from a land of happy people. He uses all of this and kills Medusa. On his way home he saves a girl from a serpent and takes her home with her. Perseus gets home turns the king to stone and marries the girl he saved. He kills his grandfather by accident by throwing a discus.
