Chapter 11

You will spend time completing each station. Follow instructions provided on the station handouts. All recording of data or answers to questions goes in your notebook, to be checked later. There are 4 stations, numbered 2-5 (There is no station 1) Rotate to the next station when instructed to do so

Follow along on your handout and label and write notes accordingly Different parts of heart numbered 1-15

Originates from left ventricle Main artery in body Extends down to abdomen

Carries oxygenated blood all over body

Large diameter Delivers deoxygenated blood from upper body to right atrium What color is this depicted as?

Delivers deoxygenated blood to right lung

Carries oxygenated blood from right lung to the left atrium

Deoxygenated blood enters the heart here

Prevents back flow from the ventricles

Pumps deoxygenated blood to lungs

Large diameter Carries deoxygenated blood from lower body to right atrium

Delivers deoxygenated blood to left lung

Carries oxygenated blood from left lung to the left atrium

Receives oxygenated blood from pulmonary veins and pumps it into the left ventricle

Prevents back flow from the ventricles

Opening of the aorta and pulmonary artery. Prevent blood from flowing back into ventricles

Thickest of all chambers Pumps oxygenated blood into aorta all over body

Part of the aorta that descends to lower body On left side of vertebral column

Dividing wall between the right and left side of heart Atrial and Ventricular

“Heart Strings” Cord-like tendons Attaches muscle in ventricles to the atrioventricular valves

Control valve movement
