FBI investigates threats

At least 10 threats were made against flights this Memorial Day weekend. The Federal Bureau of Investigation is leading the investigation into the threats. Authorities said they received threats against multiple flights, and security scrambled to deal with flights landing in numerous cities including New York's JFK, Newark, New Jersey, Buffalo, New York, and Atlanta, Georgia. NORAD (North American Aerospace Defense Command) scrambled F-15 fighter jets to escort some of the flights during landing at which point the planes were searched. Yet searches have so far have turned up nothing. Throughout the day authorities hinted that the threats did not seem credible, but insist they have to handle every threat this way, as they just don't know when one might be real.

In Other News Epic rainfall and flooding make a deadly combination in parts of Texas and Oklahoma. Six people have lost their lives and 12 more are missing. The heavy rain continued in parts of Texas this morning. The National Weather Service calls its "extremely dangerous and life-threatening." Rescue efforts have had to wait while waters subsided. The Chicago Bears booted defensive end Ray McDonald from the squad yesterday after he was arrested on domestic violence and child endangerment charges in California. McDonald was dropped by the San Francisco 49ers last year following accusations of sexual assault. The charges were later dropped. Considerable surprise has been expressed around the world about the fact that traditionally conservative and Catholic Ireland approved same-sex marriage in a referendum May 22 by a majority of nearly two to one. In doing so, Ireland became the first country in the world to legalize same sex marriage by popular vote.
