 Americans may not realize that Canada is the country directly north of them, okay, they probably know that, but did they also know that Canadians don’t really have bobble heads and that it was named one of the best countries to live in by the United Nations? Here are some other cool facts about the Canada

 Ottawa, its capital, is located along a fault line and occasionally has earthquakes. But in typical Canadian fashion, you don’t hear them whine about it

 Home to the city of Churchill, where people leave their car doors unlocked in case they get chased by polar bears and need a place to hide  They eat 55% more Kraft mac and cheese than Americans  The population has one of the best education rates in the world. Over half have college degrees

 The Hudson Bay area’s gravity levels are significantly lower than those in other parts of the globe. Scientists think it could be a result of convection in Earth’s mantle and land impressions made by the Laurentide Ice Sheet 10,000 years ago

 A bear cub named Winnie was exported from Canada to the London Zoo in A little boy named Christopher Robin Milne loved to visit Winnie and his love for the bear cub inspired the stories written by his father, A.A. Milne, about Winnie-the-Pooh.

 The Canadian motto, A Mari Usque ad Mare, means “From sea to sea.”  Canada holds the record for the most gold medals ever won at the Winter Olympics, since taking 14 Golds at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.  Canada basically got its name by mistake. When Jaques Cartier, a French explorer, came to the new world, he met with local Natives who invited them to their ‘kanata’ (the word for village). The party mistakenly thought the name of the country was “Kanata” or Canada.

 Canada is home to about different species of insects.  The Hotel de Glace in Quebec is built every year using 400 tons of ice and tons of snow. Every summer it melts away and every winter it is rebuilt.

 Famous Canadians include Pamela Anderson, Leonard Cohen, Avril Lavigne, Keanu Reeves and Jim Carrey
