Community College Survey of Student Engagement Community College Survey of Student Engagement: A Tool for Community Colleges CCSSE helps us:  Assess quality in community college education  Identify and learn from good educational practice  Identify areas in which we can improve programs and services for students

Community College Survey of Student Engagement CCSSE Data Collection Process A total of 669 (1% fewer than in 2005) credit students in 67 curriculum courses at the Main campus and the Northern Durham Center (NDC) were surveyed in the spring of A random sample of 67 courses was selected based on class start time Excluded Courses: Noncredit courses Distance learning courses Lower-level Developmental courses Independent study courses Dual-enrollment courses taught at the high schools

Community College Survey of Student Engagement What is CCFSSE? The Community College Faculty Survey of Student Engagement: Web-based Designed to mirror CCSSE to facilitate comparisons between student and faculty responses

Community College Survey of Student Engagement CCFSSE Data Collection Process A total of 151 (12% fewer than in 2005) full-time and part-time faculty members completed the CCFSSE in the spring of 2008 Only faculty members teaching an “included” course in the spring of 2008 were invited to participate Faculty members received an invitation directly from CCSSE facilitators in March 2008
