Making Single Nouns Plural 8 simple rules

Rules # 1 & #2 To form the plural of most nouns add an –s. Shirts Jeans Form the plural of most nouns ending in s, x, z, ch, or sh by adding –es Boxes Buzzes Churches

Rule #3 Form the plural of most nouns ending in y w/ a consonant before the y by changing the y to an I and adding –es. Baby = Babies Fly = Flies

Rules #4 & #5 Form the plural of nouns ending in y w/ a vowel before the y by adding – s. Boys Keys Form the plural of most nouns ending in f or fe by changing the f to a v & adding -es. Loaf = loaves

Rule #6 Form the plural of most nouns ending in o with a vowel before the o by adding -s Kangaroo - Kangaroos

Rule #7 Form the plural of most nouns ending in o w/ a consonant before the o by adding -es Hero = Heroes Potato = Potatoes

Rule #8 The plural of some nouns are formed in irregular ways. Child = Children Goose = Geese
