Computation of the flow field and temperature distribution in the Hg converter and structural materials.  Thermo-mechanical analysis of the liquid Hg converter structures under normal operating conditions using ANSYS (finite element method) and first attempt of modelling of transients.  Study of the target cooling and out-gassing.  Optimisation of the target design and integration in the Hg experimental loop.  Diagnostics and controls of the liquid Hg test loop  Investigation of the safe handling and waste management of the liquid Hg target (remote handling, target interchange, waste reduction, waste processing, target station decommissioning, disposal and recycling of liquid Hg) in collaboration with ORNL.
