Simply Cook and Enjoy MARCH:NUTRITION MONTH DIETITIANS OF CANADA

Health Info Clip prepared by Public Health Vitalité Health Network March 2014

Why cook? More healthy homemade meals = better food intake Less restaurant and commercially prepared foods = money savings + better nutrition To gain useful competencies that will serve all your life

You and your family are in a hurry? Make healthy convenient meals… Sandwiches Wraps Omelets Healthy pizzas on hamburger buns

Smoothies are a super way to learn cooking! The only tool you need is a blender! Ask for help from an adult when necessary. Create your own frosty combos with fresh, frozen or canned fruit, yogurt and milk! Feel adventurous? Add spinach or cereals.

Think outside of the box… Mash cooked cauliflower with cooked potatoes. Add cooked and mashed or raw shredded carrots to homemade cheese macaroni. Add fruits to your cereals or yogurt.

Check out recipes, cooking tips and healthy eating information. Watch videos of dietitians serving up cooking tips. Find a dietitian in your area.
