El abecedario The Spanish alphabet has the same 26 letters as the English alphabet, PLUS.. ch [che] ll [elle] ñ [eñe]

A=a ( “ah” as in all ) a vion

E=e (“eh” as in end ) e lefante

F=efe (pronounced ehfay) Sounds like f f ruta

G=ge (pronounced hey) hard “g” sound as in go, except “ge” and “gi” which make the “h” sound g ato g ente

H=hache (no sound) h elado

I=i (“ee” as in eel) i glesia

J=jota (pronounced hotah) English “h” sound julio

LL=elle (pronounced ehyay) like English y Ll uvia ll amo

Ñ=eñe (pronounced ehnyay ) sounds like the English NY in ca ny on ñ u

Q=cu (pronounced coo ) sounds like the English K q ueso

R=ere (pronounced ehray) like the English d; put tongue on palate just above front teeth r aton

RR=erre (pronounced ehray) When 2 r’s are together like in perro, the rr is trilled. perro

U=u (pronounced “oo” as in pool ) u ñas

V=ve (pronounced bay ) like the English b, though sometimes a softer sound; never English v v aca

W=doble ve (pronounced dohbley bay) sounds like the English W w afle

X=equis (pronounced ehkeys ) makes a “ts” sound xilófono

Y=i griega (pronounced ee gree-eh-gah ) like the English “y”; sometimes is a vowel and makes the “ee” sound y ogur

Z=zeta (pronounced saytah) sounds like the English S. z apato
