Exposure: Exposing students to assemblies, exhibits, and field trips. Assimilation: Creating projects, assemblies and exhibits, learning culture and language in and out of the classroom, visiting different places and mingling with diverse populations. Integration: Making the other culture part of your own, being able to live, work and think like another culture does. Empathize and be able to walk in someone else’s shoes.

Spanish II: Altar to Lucy Madeira (School Founder)
SKILLS DEVELOPED Critical Thinking- Can we adapt these altars in a new culture- How can we execute the project? Making sure all symbols are represented Collaboration- class worked together to research and execute altar Adaptability- adapting the altar to a figure they are familiar with Initiative- finding the materials Communication- presentation to the school visually and orally during an assembly CONT. Accessing and Analyzing- Internet searches/ Archival search Curiosity and Imagination- Looking for the right info and materializing it/ cutting/ painting and pasting. Empathy- getting to know an individual who has passed and seeing how family members might feel while creating these altars

DANIÉLOU’S VISIT February 27 - March 10 (12 days) An Outline of Their Visit Attend classes Participate in cooperative projects Excursions to Mount Vernon Washington, DC Baltimore On the weekend, Madeira and Holton will host joint activities for students and host families from all three communities. During their stay in the Washington area, Daniélou students will reside with Madeira, Foxcroft and Holton families.
