Agenda Gracious Professionalism Safety Admin Items Team Organization Subteam projects Subteam project outbriefs

What is gracious professionalism? A term coined by Dr. Woodie Flowers of FIRST –It's a way of doing things that encourages high-quality work, emphasizes the value of others, and respects individuals and the community Gracious professionals learn and compete like crazy, but treat one another with respect and kindness in the process

Applying Gracious Professionalism as Christians Philippians 2:3-4 –Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.

Applying Gracious Professionalism Toward Others Help Other Teams –Parts Collaborate Effectively Be an Encouragement –Winners and Losers Equally

Applying Gracious Professionalism Within Our Team Be an Encouragement to Each Other –After Matches –During Matches –Before Matches –In the Pits –In the Stands –On Lunch Breaks Act Professionally Protect Christian Witness

Safety THINK SAFETY Safety glasses worn at all times when using power tools or in room when power tools are in operation. Help each other Obey all safety regulations posted in the shop area. Wear safety glasses. Wear proper clothing. o Avoid wearing loose fitting clothing that could get caught in shop machinery or the robot. o Appropriate footwear should always be worn. Wearing sandals or open-toed shoes could be asking for trouble. Long hair should be tied back or covered by a cap to avoid any entanglement in machinery or mechanisms. Wearing good work gloves can save unnecessary cuts or wear and tear on your hands. In the 2008 FRC season, hand injuries were the most common injury at FRC events. Do not work alone in the shop. In the event of an accident, immediate assistance should always be available. Untrained personnel should not use machinery. Keep hands and fingers away from machinery tools while in operation. Keep the work area neat and organized. Keep the floor clean of metal debris, oil, or greases. Use the proper tool for the job. Stephen Escobar is our Safety Captain tonight
