Initial PS project MPV Cars

Mousetrap powered vehicles Used as an visual and physical example of most major concepts that we will explore in the physics portion of this class, connections to motion, forces and energy Can not sit back an watch, everybody will build at least one version of a car

What you need for building a mousetrap powered vehicle!

Bring to school next class If you do not, you will have to use leftovers!

Materials 1.1 Mousetrap (Victor brand is best) 2. Several rubber bands (longer, thicker are best) old Cd’s, records, (Optional). Sturdy lightweight piece of wood, and a 6 inch ruler

Connectors Connect axles to wheels: 1.Thick cardboard/foamboard 6 X 6 inch piece or 2.Wide metal washers (small central hole) or 3. Thread spools

Most important materials! Eyescrews (4, same size) Opening is large enough for rods Easily pass through Dowel Rods (for axles) ¼ to ½ inch diameter A single 3 ft Dowel rod is enough New round pencils will do

Important! Materials to bind everything together Glue Sticks for hot glue guns DUCT TAPE

Other possibilities Use more than one mousetrap or no mousetrap Wheels of model trucks/cars, hard drives from old computers Kynex, Legos Lightweight material is best
