1965: Creation of the Institute of Meteorology. (Fusion of the National Observatory and the Department of Meteorology at the ACC. September 2). 1968: Graduation of the first course of Meteorologists. 1969: Consolidation of the new Station Network; Inauguration Satellite 1st season. (March 23). 1987: Application and development of computing. Consolidation of the Radar Network 2000: Verticalization of INSMET (National Character). 2003: New career in Meteorology. 2005: The INSMET in the Works of the Battle of Ideas

CITMA is the institution that: Measured systematically observes and records behavior and chemical composition of the atmosphere; Archive and protect the historic heritage of the information about the atmosphere in the Republic of Cuba; Analyzes data and produces weather and climate information for decision making related to the protection of life and material resources in Cuba; Conducts research related to weather forecasting, climate change and its impacts, renewable energy, human health, agriculture and the effects of air pollution; Develops and related technologies assimilated meteorological measurement systems (radars).
