Office of Surface Mining Watershed Cooperative Agreement Program

AML Current Fee Collection FY2013 – FY cents/ton from surface mining operations 12 cents/ton from deep mining operations 8 cents/ton from lignite mining operations

1998 OSM developed WCAP 1999 Congress funded $750,000 Funds specifically for non-profit organizations $100,000 for design, monitoring, project administration, and construction

WCAP Requirements Applicant must be a non-profit organization - 501(c)3 Project must be eligible for AML funding Project must involve other partner(s) Current matching rate is 2:1 (WCAP portion 33% of total cost) Applicant must have good information on water quality and flow
