SOURCES OF INFORMATION Owner’s Manual Manufacture Service Manual Aftermarket Service Manual Parts and Labor Manual Computerized Service Information Internet Service Labels Technical Service Bulletins Magazines

Service Information There are several types of Manuals 1.Factory Manuals are published by the Manufacture. They are good but get expensive if you have to by one for every make and model of car. 2. Specialized manuals that cover only how to fix one part of the car like the automatic transmission.

Service Information 3. General repair manuals are published by independent companies such as Motor, Mitchell, Chilton, Alldata. I say manuals but most of it is on the computer anymore. Many are on the internet you can sit at your computer and have the newest information at your fingertips with in Seconds.

Service Information Also companies like Haynes and Chiltons have books that are for just one model of car for example a Ford mustang. There books will only cover that style over a certain # of years. Haynes # Mustang V8 all models '64-1/2 thru '73

Vehicle Identification Number The 17- Character VIN was first used in the early 80’s VIN characters may be capital letters A through Z and numbers 1 through 0; however, the letters I, O and Q are never used in order to avoid mistakes of misreading. No signs or spaces are allowed in the VIN.
