Ready to write to kids in Tanzania?

Peace Corps Volunteer Match Program Dear Educator: We have processed your enrollment form and have matched you to Cory Baddeley. You can reach Cory initially using the following information: PCV Cory Baddeley, P.O. Box 9123 Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, East Africa Hello. So we've been matched to do the World Wise Schools program. So I'm sure you know that my name is Cory Baddeley. I live in Tanzania in the Iringa region. The village name is Nyakipambo. So anyways. What age range are you looking for? I have a primary school right next to me that goes up to 15 years old. There is also a secondary school sort of near me that has people of all ages. Anyways let me know what you think. I'm looking forward to this and it should be pretty fun.

Cory’s Response… Ok that sounds great. I think I'll work up some kind of website or something and try and post an introduction about myself and all of that and then later on post pictures of the people they're interacting with. I need to go to the capital city this week because a filling fell out, so I'll really try to get something up then. They should write to just the students. They can also write to a girl or boy or pick the age. There are enough students to where your students can be sort of specific about who they interact with, but that's totally up to them and you.

Reconstruction To boost its economy, the South built factories and railroads. Some freed people were told they would get “40 acres & a mule”. However, some people took advantage of Af-Ams’ desire for land; scammed them into “sharecropping”. The government did give some land to free people, but not nearly enough.

Carpetbaggers Northerners who moved South after the Civil War (not liked) Wanted to gain political office and tried to collect taxes.
