Team Hope Field Trip to Nashville Zoo May 26 th, 2015

Nashville Zoo Team Hope will be traveling to the Nashville Zoo on Tuesday, May 26 th. We will leave the school at 8:15, tour the zoo, eat at Opry Mills, and return to FSMS by 2:30.

Daily Activities Kangaroo Kickabout Enter the home of 18 red kangaroos and interact with them. Guests can view the ‘roos from an outside area, or get a closer experience by walking a winding path through the middle of the habitat. While guests must stay on the pathway, kangaroos are free to wander the exhibit. Keeper Talks -Check out the schedule below, then go to the exhibit listed to meet our keepers. 11 a.m. Flamingo Keeper Talk 11:30 a.m. Siamang Keeper Talk Lorikeet Landing Stroll through the beautiful aviary filled with more than 50 colorful Australian lorikeet parrots. Lorikeet Landing allows Nashville Zoo guests to walk into the habitat where lorikeets fly freely inside. Guests have an opportunity to purchase small cups of nectar to feed these brightly colored parrots. Exhibit entrance is free. Guests interested in feeding the lorikeets may purchase cups of nectar for 2 tokens (tokens are $1 each) at the exhibit.

Zoo Manners Please do not feed the animals. Love them from afar. Respect the animals. This is their home. Walk (don’t run) with your group. Stay on the walkway so we don’t damage vegetation. Watch for your chaperone at all times.

Preparing for the Trip The weather is supposed to be warm Tuesday, May 26 th, so dress coolly. Also, remember to wear shoes which you will be comfortable walking around the zoo for a while. Speaking of dressing coolly, let’s remember the dress code: – Wear shorts/pants that reach your knees or longer. – Wear shirts that have sleeves (no tanks/spaghetti straps, etc.)

Don’t forget to bring… (optional) Money for the gift shop if you would like to purchase items. You will have to keep up with whatever you buy. (necessary) Money for lunch at Opry Mills Green Leaf’s Maki of Japan Pyramids Café Kelly’s Cajun Grill Charley’s Grilled Subs Panda Express Burger King Villa Fresh Italian Kitchen Starbucks Sweet CeCe’s

Think about bringing… Sunscreen Water Mid-morning snack – Goldfish – Granola Bar – Trail Mix

Items OKed for the trip Sunglasses (when outside) Hats (when outside) Cell phones – For listening to music on the bus – For taking pictures of the animals – NOT for texting/calling/posting on social media – ***If cell phones become a distraction, they will be confiscated.

Please don’t bring… A large backpack. There’s not enough room.
