Small School This is a portfolio that shows my growth in technology through my 9 years (K-8) here at Small School. As I look through my folder I realize that I now use technology much better than I did when I was younger. This portfolio will guide you through my growth in technology use with reflections that I did when I made the artifacts. Enjoy!

Kindergarten through Third Grade Kindergarten Math – (scribed by teacher) I put the toys in line, made a pattern of colors and animals. Then Mrs. Smith let me take a picture of my line. In 3 rd grade I learned how to scan pictures, so I put this picture into my school folder.

K-3 continues… For this project, we collected interesting objects and took pictures of the group. Then we learned how to make a PowerPoint slide. We put our picture on the slide, and then typed a poem that described our picture. I really liked this project, I learned to do a lot of new computer things. I spy half of one hundred, a straw for Halloween, a bouncy ball, and a shoelace string, Elmer’s glue, a coin for a case, a band that is blue, and a car for a race. A flashlight to see, a crayon to celebrate, a shell inside a shell, and a skateboard for me.

I picked chipmunks. I looked on the encyclopedia CD and found facts. Then I painted a picture of a chipmunk in the winter and put it into my folder with a scanner. Then I made this slide for our classes New Hampshire animals unit.

K-3… This is a Social Studies project I made in 3 rd grade in Word. I looked up my information in the CD encyclopedia, and then shared my research with my class. Golden Gate Bridge paper

Grades 4 and 5 In 4 th and 5 th grade, I started to do a lot more with the computer. I learned new ideas I could use to make my school work even better. In the slides after this, you can see some of the things I did in 4 th and 5 th grade. I think I did good. Check it out!

For this project, we researched a famous NH author, and drew a picture. For this project, I had to use a photo editor to resize my picture to fit it with the words.

4 th and 5 th In 5 th grade, we learned how to use Excel to organize data and make graphs. I took a poll of people in my class, and found out how many times a month they go on the internet. Check out my graphs!

4 th and 5th In this set of poems, we learned a lot new formatting ideas. These poems show how we learned how to use Word and do even more. Fall poems

4 th and 5 th In 5 th grade I was making a PowerPoint on the Pilgrims and I found a lot of really cool pictures in a book that my mom has, and I scanned them into my project. When I handed it in, I got in trouble because I did not say who the picture belonged to. Now I know that I have to say who took the picture. Also you have to tell who wrote things that you put in your paper, too. You can’t say that you wrote it because you didn’t.

6 th to 8th grade Now that I am in eighth grade, I am using computers even more to help with school. You can see some of the projects I have made in the last few years in the next few slides.

Math Project In Math this year, I researched on how to buy a truck. In the PowerPoint you can see that I did a whole lot of research on the internet at home. I think I did a really good job on this, especially the research. New Truck

6 th grade science lab We started to write up our science labs on the computer so that they looked more professional. This is one of our first labs in 6 th grade where we researched the properties of Oobleck. We also started to use Excel to keep track of our results in data tables. Oobleck lab

Math Excel In Math class last year, we learned how to make different types of graphs in Excel. Then I imported my graphs to Word. We learned about what different types of graphs tell us and which ones to use for what data. I used McDonald’s nutrition data for my graphs. It’s gross...but look! McDonald’s graphs

Portfolio As you can see, I have done a lot of different things on the computer that show that I am proficient at using computers and the programs on them. Over my years at Small School I think I have learned a lot about different parts of technology and how to use it in my life. Although there are frustrations in technology, I know I will need it in my life.
