 ISBE’s Point Person on IATP’s Advisory Council - initial funding $100,000.  Increased AT Device inventory slightly for K-12  Our AT Demo Center Coordinator, Who Was Larger than Life - second year funding jumped to $400,000.  Allowed for an additional Device Loan Staff  Increased inventory much - much more - again with the focus of K-12.

 Contacted Project Officer at ISBE to discuss program expansion  Speech and Language Pathologist  Of course INCREASED Funding too - $450,000  ISBE’s Grant Application threw a Curve Ball  It included Speech and Language Pathologist but…  Also included an Assistive Technology Specialist .25 ATS  $450,000

 First year of SLP and AT Assessments were viewed to be very successful so….  We asked for more money and increased staffing to:  2 SLPs  1 ATS  $535,000

 Created factsheet highlighting program and ISBE generated a broadcast out to all District Supervisors of Special Education  During Year 1 of offering AT/AAC Assessments the SLP created an online referral system  District staff submit the initial request form  IATP staff send out packets that have to be completed by the district point person and the parents/guardians and returned  An AT or AAC Assessment or joint assessment is scheduled

 Access on a first come first serve basis to AT Device Loan Inventory for K-12  Onsite observation and AT/AAC Assessments  AT/AAC Devices left for trial – if available, otherwise they jump to the front of the line to borrow a device  Staff write up report and submit to local district staff  SLP or ATS presents findings during IEP meetings  AAC and AT Specific Training
