BRITISH EXPAND CONTROL OVER INDIA THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT CONTROL THE EAST INDIA COMPANY’S EFFORTS IN LONDON AND IN INDIA. THE COMPANY RULED INDIA WITH LITTLE MEDDLING FROM BRITISH GOVERNMENT UNTIL THE BEGINNING OF THE 19 TH CENTURY. BRITISH TREASURE INDIA FOR ITS POTENTIAL THAN ITS ACTUAL PROFIT. THE REVOLUTION TURNED BRITAIN INTO THE WORLDS WORKSHOP. THEREFORE INDIA WAS A BIG SUPPLIER OF RAW MATERIALS.

BRITISH TRANSPORT TRADE GOODS RAW MATERIALS WERE MOSTLY AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS PRODUCED ON PLANTATIONS. TEA INDIGO COFFEE COTTON JUTE OPIUM THESE CROPS WERE OFTEN CLOSELY TIED TO INTERNATIONAL EVENTS.

NEGATIVES IMPACT OF COLONIALISM BRITISH HAD MOST OF THE POLITICAL AND ECONOMIC POWER. RESTRICTED INDIAN OWNED INDUSTRIES SUCH AS COTTON TEXTILES. CASH CROP RESULTED IN LOSS OF SELF-SUFFICIENTLY FOR MANY VILLAGERS. CASH CROP REDUCED FOOD PRODUCTIONS CAUSING FAMINES IN THE 1800S’.

POSITIVE IMPACT OF COLONIALISM MAJOR BRITISH ACHIEVEMENT WAS THE WORLDS THIRD LARGEST RAILROAD NETWORK. RAILROAD ENABLE INDIA TO DEVELOP MODERN ECONOMY AND CONNECTED TO OTHER REIGNS. SANITATION AND PUBLIC HEALTH IMPROVED. SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES WERE SET UP AND EDUCATION INCREASED. PUT A END TO LOCAL WARFARE AMONG COMPETING LOCAL RULERS.

NATIONALISM SURFACES IN INDIA INDIANS HATED THE SYSTEM THAT MADE THEM SECOND CLASS CITIZENS IN THEIR OWN COUNTRY. THOSE ABLE TO GET A MIDDLE CLASS JOB WERE PAID LESS THAN THE EUROPEANS. BRITISH ENGINEER MADE NEARLY 20 TIMES MORE THAN A INDIAN ENGINEER.

NATIONALIST GROUP FORMS INDIAN NATIONAL CONGRESS 1885 AND MUSLIM LEAGUE 1906 BOTH FOCUS ON SPECIFIC CONCERNS FOR INDIANS BUT SOON THEY CALLED FOR SELF- GOVERNMENT PROVINCE WAS TOO LARGE FOR ADMINISTRATIVE PURPOSE SO BRITISH DIVIDED IT INTO HINDU SECTION AND MUSLIM SECTION BUT RESULT INTO TERRORISM THEREFORE BRITISH HAD TO DIVIDED INTO A DIFFERENT WAY
