A point has no length or width, it just specifies an exact location. A line is a series of points that extend forever in both directions.

A line segment does not extend forever, but has two distinct endpoints. A ray begins at a certain point and extends forever in one direction.

Parallel Lines Intersecting Lines Perpendicular Lines

ANGLES CAN YOU LABEL EACH ONE? right acute acute obtuse acute acute

Polygon 411: Names and Numbers Triangle Rectangle 4 sides 4 angles 4 points Square 3sides, 3 angles, 3 points 4 sides, 4 angles, 4 points Pentagon Octagon 6 sides 6 angles 6 points Hexagon 8 sides, 8 angles, 8 points 5 sides, 5 angles, 5 points

Circles A circle is: “the set of all points” that are a fixed distance from a central point". The radius is the distance from the center to the edge. The Circumference is the distance around the edge of the circle.

Circles cont. A line that goes from one point to another on the circle's circumference is called a Chord. If that line passes through the center it is called a Diameter. If a line "just touches" the circle as it passes it is called a Tangent. And a part of the circumference is called an Arc.

Triangles: Sides and Angles Isosceles Equilateral Three equal angles No equal sides No equal angles Two equal sides Two equal angles Three equal sides Scalene Obtuse Right Acute Has an angle more than 90° Has a right angle (90°) All angles are less than 90°

Quadrilaterals: 4 sided shapes

Does a shape change if you move it? Rotation Turn! Reflection Flip! Translation Slide!

NO! In Geometry, "Translation" simply means moving. Check out this website and see for yourself. Alphabet Geometry: Flips, Slide, Turn
