Goals: The creation of structures for a constant flow of information; The employment of the existing regional expertise in order to encourage regional ownership and initiative; Networking and co-operation across all institutional, cultural and national borders; Broaden the public debate on reform goals and methods; Increase the level of expert involvement in the discussion of the findings of international reviews; Regularly bring together key contact points in the education systems of the Stability Pact countries; Also operate in local languages of the region.

SEE-ECN Country Nodes Local coordinating organization for each country or entity throughout the region, set up in existing organizations with staff capacitymostly local education institutes, think tanks, and nongovernmental organizations Country Nodes promote the network (organize round tables, presentations in schools, universities, etc,) Country Nodes search for and collect materials and organize translations

SEE-ECN Web Site Virtual Library with more than 2,500 documents – comprehensive collection on education systems, on past and ongoing education reforms in SEE, with the key documents on major educational trends in EU in 9 different languages (mostly in English, also in Albanian, Bulgarian, Romanian, Serbian, Croatian, Bosnian, Macedonian, Slovenian) For each country: Basic information and Database, National Policy documents Good practices, Legislation, Reviews and reports, Curriculum, Expertise and Theory Main Documents on the Education and Training 2010 work programme Key Objectives and Areas of Cooperation: Education and Training of Teachers and Trainers Basic Skills Language Learning Information and Communication Technologies Maths, Science and Technology Making the best use of resources Mobility and European cooperation Making learning more attractive and strengthening links to working life Opening up learning and active citizenship Reforming guidance and counseling Recognising non-formal and informal learning Measuring progress through indicators and benchmarks Number of monthly visitors: 20 – 40,000 (October 2006: 37,800)

Results of the project 12 National Reports with key information about pre- and in-service teacher education and training and the state of the art in areas in particular countries of the region. A Regional Overview Results of an online survey The enlosed CD-ROM with complete project website contents (in various languages) - in total more than 150 documents on: Teacher Education and Training in South East Europe; Teacher Education and Training in Europe and World (including the Bologna process, Education and Training 2010 etc.); Studies on Teacher Education and Training (Eurydice, TUNING etc.); Good Practices in Teacher Education and Training (Curricula - In-service Teacher Training)

The Workshop Enabled by: UNESCO Open Society Institute – Education Support Program Co-organized by Centre for Educational policy studies Open Society Fund BH Participants: Teachers from SEE countries + 5 Teachers nominated by Central Asia Educational Cooperation Network

Main Aims of the Workshop: to familiarize the participants with the state of affairs and policies of enhancing the pre-service and in-service teacher education, by using the findings and recommendations of project Enhancing Professional Development of Education Practitioners and Teaching/Learning practices in SEE countries; to particularly stress the role of teacher training in achieving greater tolerance and mutual understanding, conflict resolution, multicultural education, education for peace; to encourage participating teachers to develop their own scheme of career development and professional enhancement, by emphasizing the relation between quality in-service training of teachers and quality work in their schools; The workshop seeks to contribute to the professional advancement of practicing teachers in SEE countries and to the quality enhancement of their schools but also to a readiness for education cooperation aiming at strengthening further cross- border cooperation.
