Software for continuous assessment and immediate feedback to enhance learning in programming subjects AR Botes M.Sc. in Computer Science School of Information Technology North-West University Vaal Triangle Campus 2014

Problems in programming subjects  Paper based assessment > programming subjects’ > needs to change  Numerous variations of individual solutions  Time constraints due to huge classes  The need to provide immediate meaningful feedback

Modern, technology-assisted assessment Developed a software using a combination of VB.net and PHP to assist in the assessments and feedback of practical activities for programming students.

1 st Iteration

2 nd Iteration

Results  Allow multiple submissions of the same assessment activity.  The ability to capture data and provide the lecturer with key areas which are problematic to students.  Improved throughput
