Partners: The International Cricket Council, UNAIDS, UNICEF THINK WISE: The Global Cricket AIDS Partnership Location: Local and regional networks in India, South Africa, Pakistan, Guyana, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Australia, New Zealand, and UK. Field of work: Health and social integration. Target group: Children and young people living with and affected by HIV and AIDS.

THINK WISE: The Global Cricket AIDS Partnership Rejection by family, peers, and the greater community. Negative effect on the success of HIV testing and treatment. Psychological damage. Poor treatment in healthcare and education settings. Consequences Issue: AIDS-related stigma and discrimination Prejudice Negative attitudes Abuse

Program strategy: Cricket as a way to promote HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention and to end discrimination against people affected by the disease. THINK WISE: The Global Cricket AIDS Partnership Provide information resources to young people and volunteers, coaches, about the AIDS epidemic. Encourage informed decision making and help- seeking behaviors to prevent new infections.

Developing Minds Foundation: Mangueira Favela

Partners: The Developing Minds Foundation and Flamengo Location: The Mangueira favela (urban slum) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Field of work: Social integration, individual development. Target group: 200 children and young people living in the Mangueira favela.

Developing Minds Foundation: Mangueira Favela Issue: Poverty, unrest, violence, and drug- trafficking. High risk for conflict High murder rates. Undereducated and underdeveloped children. Drug usage and recruitment of children by drug-trafficking gangs. Limited job opportunities, increasing the risk of falling into the drug trade. Underlying fear. Social exclusion both within and outside of the favela. Consequences

Program strategy: Football as a means to provide structure and personalized supervision by the coaches to help guide vulnerable children toward a safer and more productive direction. Developing Minds Foundation: Mangueira Favela Coaches speak to children collectively and individually about their problems, offering guidance guidance.

The Huancayo Race Partners: Local government and small local industries. Location: Mantaro Valley of Huancayo, Peru. Field of work: Local economic development. Target group: Local communities.
