OCLC Online Computer Library Center MFHD Local Holdings Project Schedule February 2006 – Weekend of install  Current Union List System will be unavailable starting around 6:00 PM EDT on Friday February 17 th.  New Holdings Maintenance functionality will be available through the Connexion browser starting Sunday February 19 th.  Local holdings data will be available in FirstSearch & WorldCat Resource Sharing during the weekend of the install.

OCLC Online Computer Library Center New Projects  Hiatus  Expect to lift hiatus on new projects shortly after local holdings maintenance is available through the Connexion browser  Order Form  A new order form for the local holdings batch maintenance service will be available on the OCLC Web site at that time.

OCLC Online Computer Library Center Data Requirements  Will continue to accept files of MFHD or Non-MARC patterned data.  Will no longer be limited only to serial item holdings.  Newspaper restrictions for USNP (NEPU) libraries will be removed!

OCLC Online Computer Library Center  OCLC Control Number must still be in each record and consistently in the same location in each record in a file.  Will continue to require complete set of holdings records attached to a single bibliographic record.  Will still follow single copy model. Each holdings record sent in the set of records for a specific bibliographic record must represent the holdings data for only one copy. Data Requirements (cont)

OCLC Online Computer Library Center Institution-level Summary Holdings  Institution-level summary holdings statements will be created when library submits coded holdings data.  Summarization will generally not be done for textual holdings.  A generic note indicating that local holdings are available will take the place of an institution summary if one cannot be created.

OCLC Online Computer Library Center Documentation  Planning Guide is under revision.  Batch Processing Web pages will be revised.
