Handling Negative Communications Instructor: Dr. Bahna

What is negative communication? When someone says something to us that makes us feel bad, angry, or sad. Words can be hurtful. Looks can be hurtful. The way people act towards us can hurt us emotionally or physically.  Have you ever said or done anything to someone that is hurtful? You probably have! We all have!

What makes us feel bad? Sometimes we feel bad because our teachers or parents discipline us when we don’t do the right thing. Sometimes we feel bad because other kids make fun of us. Sometimes we think bad things about ourselves and others because that is what we hear when we around others who do the wrong things.  Did you know that watching too much TV may make us feel or think bad?

What can we do about it? 1.We need to be listening to those watching over us. 2.We need to make friends who help us do the right things. 3. We should be careful not to watch too much TV and not to watch shows that make us want to do the wrong things.
