Medicine at Camp Nurse Lori New
Guidelines Students will not be permitted to carry any type of medications – with the exception of self-administered asthma inhaler or Epi- pens. Appropriate permission forms must be submitted for this inhaler or Epi-pen. Medicine must be turned into the clinic at school before we leave the school grounds.
No medication can be given to a child without a note from a Doctor. Over-the-counter medicines provided by the parent must be clearly labeled and in the original container and accompanied with a doctor’s note. These medications must be labeled for children with dosage instructions for the same age as the child.
Special Considerations Sample prescription and alternative medicine must be labeled with the child’s name and accompanied by a signed physician’s order. Dietary supplements and other nutritional aids not approved as medication by the FDA may not be dispensed by school personnel.
NISD Supplied Medicine District policy no longer will allow anyone (including nurses) to purchase over the counter medications. They can be administered by NISD staff, if needed, when a Doctor gives written consent.
