2 Sponsored Programs Transmittal Form The Transmittal Form is: The document that MUST accompany every proposal routed to OSP. The document that records PI and Co-PI certifications. The document that records Department Head and Dean approvals. The document that specifies F&A return and credit distribution. The ONLY source of proposal data available to OVPR and is critical to populating the Faculty Activity Repository (FAR). For the University to know anything about a proposal, a transmittal form is needed. Office for Sponsored Programs

3 Sponsored Programs Transmittal Form Versions of the “Form”: Paper-based for decades. Version 1 of the online form, released in 2010, meant to simply mimic the paper form and provide an online alternative to paper. This is the version currently in use. Approximately 80% of proposals use this version 1 online system, the others remain paper. Version 1.5 was released February 1 st. Use is mandatory. Significant changes in credit accounting. Other improvements (routing and attachments) to facilitate use. Version 2 has been designed – awaiting implementation. Office for Sponsored Programs

4 Sponsored Programs Transmittal Form Version 1.5: Credit Reporting Changes: Academic Credit –Any non Center and Institute units Center and Institute Credit –Any official Center or Institute Improvements to facilitate use: Data points easier to understand: –Management Unit –F&A Return units –Credit Units Routing Changes: –Multiple Department Heads and Deans per investigator –Routing can be modified at any time. 6 Sponsored Programs Transmittal Form Version 2.0 and beyond: Purpose: Streamline and expand the data gathering capabilities of the transmittal process to better report, track, and understand trends in UGA research activity. Automate approval pathway Simplify, explain, clarify administrative requirements. Version 2.0 will be implemented either as a subsequent stand- alone application or embedded within the integrated eRA system. Office for Sponsored Programs
