HUBS A network hub is a device for connecting multiple Ethernet devices together and making them act as a single network division. It contains a multiple I/O ports, in which signal introduced at the input of any port appears at the output of every port except the original incoming.

BRIDGES Bridging is a forwarding technique used in packet- switched computer networks. It is a different method than routing, bridging makes no assumption about where in a network a particular address is located. Bridging generally refers to transparent bridging or learning bridge operation which predominates in Ethernet.

SWITCHES It is also known as switching hub which is a computer networking device that connects network segment or network devices. The first Ethernet switch was introduced by Kalpana in 1990.

ON-LINE On-line has a specific meaning in regard to computer technology and telecommunications. In general, “online” indicates a state of connectivity. Online often refers to the internet or the World Wide Web.

OFF-LINE Off-line has a specific meaning in regard to computer technology and telecommunications. In general, “Offline” indicates a disconnected state.
