Gifted and Talented Program PECOS-BARSTOW-TOYAH ISD

Our G/T Program is an individualized student-centered program that encompasses a challenging, differentiated curriculum aimed at encouraging creative thinking and expression, problem-solving, and leadership skills.

Designed to serve Students who have been identified as GT according to the guidelines in the P-B-T Long-Range Plan for the Education of the Gifted and Talented and the Texas State Plan for the Education of the GT students. …children and youth with outstanding talent who perform or show the potential for performing at remarkably high levels of accomplishment when compared with others of their age, experience, or environment…

Encompassing A structured, curriculum and program options with flexible scheduling according to the needs of the students at each campus.

Program Administration The program goals, educational needs of each student, identified area(s) of giftedness, and the collaborative planning process determine program administration.

PARENTS are informed how to nominate a child for the program by Letters home (English and Spanish) Television notices (English and Spanish) Newspaper articles

Students are Provided Program options aimed at providing an array of learning opportunities for growth in identified areas. Enhanced learning experiences while encouraging scholastic rigor.

Students are Provided Instructional and organizational options that enable them to work: Together as a group, with other students, and independently.

Each P-B-T Campus Is responsible for providing opportunities for the entire school year for identified gifted students.
